Condition
Original canvas. There is a small hole just below the bowsprit at the centre of the right edge, as well as a small dent with associated paint loss to the right of the boat in the background in the upper right. The craquelure to the hull of the main boat and the figures is lifting in places and requires consolidation. There are several associated areas of paint loss to the red and black areas of impasto. There are areas of craquelure elsewhere, including to the sky just above the horizon line to the right of the yellow sail, and to the water in the lower right quadrant There are frame abrasions with associated cracks and paint loss along all four edges. The surface is dirty. Inspection under UV light reveals no obvious signs of retouching. Held in a gold-painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
