Catalogue Note
The present work comes from the collection of Robert L.B. Tobin, a prominent theatre art collector and benefactor of the Metropolitan Opera and Museum of Modern Art in New York. A resident of San Antonio, Tobin was closely associated with the McNay Art Museum to which he bequeathed his Russian theatre design collection which included important costume and set designs by Natalia Goncharova and Léon Bakst.
