Condition

Original canvas. There are minor abrasions with some cracks along all four edges. There are further cracks to the white pigment in several places, notably around the incised parts of the composition as well as along the top edge of the veneer. There are areas of varnish residue throughout the composition, most noticeable in the upper center. There is a layer of surface dirt with spots, scuff and handling marks in places.There are lines of what may be rubber eraser marks throughout the white background area. Inspection under UV light reveals a layer of discoloured varnish. Held in a wooden strip frame. Unexamined out of frame.
