Provenance

Acquired by the grandparents of the present owner in the 1920s

Condition

The canvas has been laid on panel. There are pinholes in all four corners. There is wear to edges and corners, notably to the top left corner. The paint surface is thin and shows abrasions with the canvas weave visible in places. There are a few flecks of paint loss, notably to the shore line below the ship on the left and in the lower right corner. Visible in places are minor surface scratches. There is a covering of surface dirt. Inspection under UV light reveals retouching to the top left corner. Held in its original wooden and plaster frame bearing a J.Daziaro shop label on the reverse. Unexamined out of frame.
