Condition
Original canvas. There are frame abrasions with minor associated paint loss along all four edges. There is a light layer of surface dirt. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered spots of retouching, mostly to the corners. Held in a painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.

Catalogue Note
The present lot is a study for A Family in July, which sold at Sotheby's New York in November 2010 and remains the auction record for the artist. A Family in July belongs to Popkov's best-know series on the theme of human relationships which also includes A Couple (1966, State Tretyakov Gallery).
