Condition
Original canvas. There are a few lines of craquelure, including to the female sitter's leg. There is a vertical line of paintwork running the length of the left side which does not correspond to a canvas seam. UV light reveals retouching to the male sitter's elbow and in places on his torso; a line of retouching in the lower left corner; an area of retouching in the upper right corner corresponding to a patch on the reverse and a few smaller areas of retouching in places elsewhere. There is an uneven layer of varnish. Held in a carved gilt wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
