signed in Cyrillic and dated '68' l.l.watercolor and ink on paperSidur’s only public lifetime exhibition took place in the House of Writers in Moscow in a one-day show in 1968. The problem of pain and human suffering was a major theme in his artworks, which have since become symbols of opposition to any kind of totalitarianism.  The curvilinear human forms of the present work on paper are hallmarks of his paintings as well as his sculptures. In 1987 the Vadim Sidur Museum of Sculpture was established in Moscow, following the artist’s death. During a 2015 exhibition at Manezh a number of Sidur’s sculptures were smashed by an activist who deemed the works blasphemous.
