Condition

Overall measurements; 187cm across the top, 190cm across the bottom, 409cm the left hand side, 402cm the right hand side. Overall pile down to knotheads and foundation generally. There are numerous holes, largest being 10 by 10cm, with others in top and bottom of field and a long gash centre top field and border (35cm long), and several large patched reweaves (lower left corner, shaped reweave approx. 44 by 27cm - within field and to outer edge, another in lower right quadrant = shaped 59 by 25cm at widest; and another top right quadrant = shaped 49 by 21cm at widest) and several other shaped and narrow insets in places, as visible in the photograph. Some tinting especially visible in palmette centre left side, as green has run. Pinks in other areas visible. Sections of outer guards are later, as visible in the photograph. Section of hessian attached to the reverse with stitching. Overlocked fringing both ends. Sections of original side cord. All corners repaired. Interesting historical piece. Good drawing and colouring in places. Decorative.
