Description

  • wool pile
  • approximately 232 by 172 cm; 7ft. 7in., 5ft. 8in.

Condition

top 172cm, bottom 162cm, left 232cm, right 226cm Pile varies from thick 1cm in depth mainly in the borders, down to localised areas of wear to knotbars scattered throughout rug, eg bottom right spandrel. Horizontal split in top right of border approx. 4cm in length, would benefit from attention. Minor areas of old repiling, small area of repair in left hand border, approx. 6 by 4cm at longest points. Ends with approximately 2cm of red flat weave at each end, with original fringing, not overlocked, original polychrome banded sidecords. Would benefit from some minor conservation, but in generally good condition for age with attractive colouring.
