Description
- wool pile
- approximately 203 by 143cm; 6ft. 8in., 4ft. 9in.
Condition
Overall measurements: 140cm across the top, 143cm across the bottom, 199cm the left hand side, 203cm the right hand side.
Pile dense, closely woven, evenly sheared 1-2mm even overall. Several small breaks which have been re-stitched, probably where the carpet was folded at some point, the most noticeable being the one in the lower half of the central green flower and another at the top of the medallion The rug needs is in need of a thorough professional clean, as evidenced on the reverse; colours should reveal themselves as very lucid and fresh. Scattered minor moth damage on back, with a couple of larger areas irregularly shaped, approx. 5 by 3cm. Sidecords probably original, vestiges of flatweave at both ends, and fringing worn. A pretty example.
This is an extremely good example of its type.
