Description

  • approximately 246 by 150cm; 8ft. 1in., 4ft. 11in.
with unusual design of a pair of flowering trees, and with a horseman, coffee pot and samovar in the lower right hand corner

Condition

Overall measurements: 150cm across the top, 149cm across the bottom, 242cm the left hand side, 246cm the right hand side. Comprising six vertical panels. Partially embroidered in red wool, this now with losses, visible from photograph. Otherwise embroidery generally in good condition, with good range of colours including: grass greens, yellows, melon orange and a natural mauveish walnut. Ground is quite dirty and has several small pin-holes and a 5cm split along the edge of the inner guard along the edge of the upper border. Also a 20cm cobbled repaired split along edge of outer guard in lower border, near to a surface blob of white paint (visible in online photograph). Unusual small polychrome plant motifs, in upper end of field, and a rare mounted horseman with a coffee pot and samovar. Raw edges, unlined. this would benefit from professional cleaning, conservation and mounting.
