Condition

Please note the image is upside down in the printed catalogue and on-line. Condition report completed looking at the piece in the correction orientation of the weave. Overall measurements: 94cm across the top, 97cm across the bottom, 475cm the left hand side, 470cm the right hand side. Pile overall very good 6-8mm, with differentiation in oxidisation throughout, with whites and blues being high, and reds, pinks being slightly lower and the purples and browns, lower still. Pile with some localised wear to knotbars, visible in border (lower section of the upper half). Soft glossy wool, with very good range of colour. Some oxidisation to the foundation in the dark browns in the palmette motifs in the upper section of lower half of field (visible in the photograph on-line). Old repiled hole in the central palmette, 8th row from the bottom and repiling in the dark browns in row of palmettes below. Spot repiling in adjacent pinks and blues. Later side cords, lower ends both with cotton tape of reverse. Upper reciprocol outer guard appears to be later and outer edge of the white border at the upper end is partly rebuilt. It lies straight. Attractive range of colours.
