Description

Composed of a slightly graduated row of natural pearls measuring from approximately 7.30mm to 9.40mm, to a detachable clasp millegrain-set with cushion-shaped diamonds, length approximately 380mm, one cultured pearl.

Provenance

These pearls were originally strung in a three row pearl necklace, together with lots 97 and 100, belonging to Queen Marie Antoinette. Please refer to page 129 and to lot 100 for an illustration of the necklace in its original form.

Condition

Please note that the diamonds of brown tint have not been tested for natural colour origin. Accompanied by SSEF report no. 93535, stating that thirty-nine roundish to oval, barrel- and button-shaped pearls measuring from 7.30 to 9.40mm, were found to be natural, saltwater, and one pearl was found to be cultured. Pearls of slightly cream to light cream body colour, partly with rosé and green overtones, some with surface blemishes, one fractured. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 1.80 - 2.30 carats, bright and lively, five of brown tint. Signs of wear to the metal consistent with age. Clasp secure, safety catch. Overall, in good condition. Gross weight approximately 35 grams.
