Description

Each earring set with a cushion-shaped ruby weighing 4.52 and 5.05 carats respectively, within a frame of cushion-shaped diamonds, the brooch set with a similarly shaped ruby weighing 23.76 carats, surrounded by circular-cut diamonds, detachable brooch fitting, chain, fitted case stamped Hübner, the brooch modified at a later date.

Provenance

Formerly in the collection of Queen Isabelle II of Spain (1830-1904), purchased by Archduke and Archduchess Frédéric of Austria. Condition

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 93530, stating that the cushion-shaped rubies weighing 4.52, 5.05 and 23.76 carats, measuring 11.44 x 9.54 x 4.37mm, 11.51 x 9.50 x 4.75mm and 15.66 x 13.98 x 10.83mm, are of Burmese origin, with no indications of heating and a minor amount of oil in fissures. Rubies red of medium strong saturation, with typical surface-reaching inclusions, abrasions, chips and cavities. For more information on the rubies, please refer to the SSEF report. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 22.00 - 24.00 carats, on average H-I colour, SI-I included clarity, as gauged and graded in the mount. Signs of wear to the metal, the pair of earrings with evidence of tarnish. Clasp secure. In good condition. Total gross weight 40 grams. Detachable brooch fitting. Accompanied by a chain to wear the brooch as a pendant, and a fitted case stamped Hübner, WIEN.
