Description

Set with a cushion-shaped ruby weighing 2.06 carats, within a frame of circular-cut diamonds on a fancy curb link bracelet, length approximately 170mm, Austrian assay mark.

Provenance

Given by Archduke Eugène of Austria (1863-1954) to his niece, Archduchess Marie Anne of Austria on the occasion of her wedding with Prince Elie de Bourbon Parme in 1903. "Un écrin velours rouge (Hübner), bracelet gros rubis entouré de diamants. Cadeau de mariage de mon oncle, l'Archiduc Eugène".

Condition

Austrian assay mark for Vienna. Ruby measuring approximately 7.38 x 6.38 x 4.44mm, red of medium strong saturation, with typical inclusions, some surface reaching, facet edges heavily abraded. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 2.90 - 3.20, H-J colour, SI-I clarity, some with abrasions and chips. Scratches to the metal consistent with age and normal use. Clasp secure. Overall, in good condition. Gross weight approximately 38 grams.
