  • Casket
  • tortoiseshell, with silver mounts, on a wood core with rosewood interior 
  • 9.5 by 13.2 by 8.7cm., 3¾ by 5 1/8  by 7 3/8 in. 

Condition

Overall, the condition of the casket is good, with minor dirt and some wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few minor stable splits and some scratches to the surface of the tortoiseshell. There is some glue residue and a small plug on the right side of the casket, it is possible there is some restoration here. There is some tarnishing and some minor warping to the metal mounts. The front right foot is loose and the right foot at the back has been reattached. One of the hinges at the back has been reinforced. The velvet interior is later.
