Description

the backs painted with the crest of the Dukes of Hamilton

Provenance

Probably supplied to Archibald Hamilton, 9th Duke of Hamilton and 6th Duke of Brandon (1740 – 1819)

Condition

In overall reasonable restored condition but would benefit from further attention. Evidence of old worm damage to seat rails which no longer appears to be active. Significant losses to reeded moulding notably to one chair. Variations in colour and the seat to one chair with a notable stain and water marks. Generally with typical old chips and losses associated with hall chairs. Plug repairs to lower back rest of each. Painted crests with minor loses but otherwise in apparently nice original condition.
