Condition

The canvases are lined, the paint surfaces are dirty and the varnishes discoloured. The networks of craquelure are rather pronounced, and visible retouchings are visible scattered in the backgrounds. Inspection under ultraviolet light is impeded by the thick varnish, but there appears to be scattered spot retouching in the faces, which fluoresce lightly, as well as strengthening to some of the lettering, and the background surrounding it, in the lower sections of the compositions, as well as so the top of the Virgin’s headpiece.
