Description

  • length 39cm, 15 3/8 in.
the base chased with an Imperial eagle enclosing a portrait of Peter I, after the painting by Kneller, with the Tsar shown as a young man, his head crowned with laurel, the sides with presentation inscription in Russian dated 7 August 1709 'from Peter the Great to the Muscovite gentleman Simeon Simeonovitch Lugovsky following his successful trade mission to China'

Condition

Scratches and small indentations throughout. One side with an old cracked rapair, the handle with a further old repair. The central panel possibly added or re-attached later.
