The complete book, comprising 33 etchings, two printed in colors, and one lithograph printed in colors for the end papers, 1975-76, with text by Samuel Beckett, signed in pencil by the artist and the author on the justification page and numbered 7/250 (total edition includes 30 artist's proofs), signed again by the artist on the title page, dedicated and dated 'for Jean Stein / with affection / Jasper Johns / 25 July '05', on Richard de Bas handmade paper, printed by Atelier Crommelynck, Paris, published by Petersburg Press, New York, contained in the original linen-covered box (34 prints)

Condition

The book is in good condition. Some sheets with an occasional tiny, inconspicuous fox mark and very faint discoloration along the extreme sheet edges. A few sheets with faint offprinting on the facing pages. Plate 1 with a few slight, soft vertical creases in the right half of the sheet and two small tears in the lower sheet edge. Plates 16 and 17 with vertical undulation. Traces of faint surface soiling and a few small spots of rubbing on the paper cover.
