Condition

This photograph, on paper with a surface sheen, is in generally very good to excellent condition. The highlights are luminous and the dark tones a velvety black. The following are visible in raking light: a small handling crease at the lower center edge of the image and a handling crease in the lower right quadrant that extends into the margin. When examined in raking light the following are visible in the black margins: a faint patina of even, pleasing silvering; a Y-shaped crease or possibly repaired tear at the upper left edge that has been retouched; three pin-point sized raised areas; and several very minor handling creases. The edges are worn in a few places and unevenly trimmed. There is soiling and a few abrasions on the reverse. There are two hinge remnants at the upper corners and a brown tape remnant at the lower right corner. There are three stamps in Cyrillic on the reverse, partially translated into German in an unidentified hand in pencil. The stamps on the reverse read, in English, as follows: 'The Lviv Regional House of National Art Lviv, P. Morozov Street no. 3' 'The Cherepovetsky Television Studio' 'The Directorate of Culture of the Sevastopol City Committee The Volunteer Society of Photography and Film-Lovers The Sevastopol Photo-Cine Club' When examined under ultraviolet light, this photograph does not appear to fluoresce.
