Vintage chromogenic print. Titled and dated in pencil on the mount. Signed and annotated Rowan Oak Oxford Miss. and For Lucia To Elsa, Happy Birthday and love, Lucia in ball point pen on the verso. Matted and framed.

Condition

This vintage chromogenic print is in overall good condition. With uniform light yellowing to the print, which does not distract from the image and colours. With a small matte area of unknown characteristics in the lower right quadrant, and light handling marks throughout, with one prominent handling mark in the lower right margin. With light brownig to the lower edge of the print, visible on the verso.

Catalogue Note

In 1976, the Museum of Modern Art held a ground-breaking exhibition. A one man show titled William Eggleston’s Guide, which established the photographer as the pioneer of colour photography. Until this point, this type of photography had been largely excluded from the museum circuit side-lined as amateur.
