Condition
The canvas is lined, the paint surface is clean and the varnish is clear and even. The colours are bright and well-preserved. The painting is in very good overall condition and ready to hang without a need for further intervention. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a handful of sensitively-executed fine, horizontal lines of retouching, the longest of which measures approx. 30cm. These occur lower centre, above the figures lower right, in the right-hand tree in the centre, in the bottom of the mountain upper right, and in the landscape centre left. There are other small scattered retouchings, but no major intervention.
