Condition

The canvas is lined, the paint surface is relatively clean and the varnish is clear and even. There is some degree of wear visible in the background and the edges of the girl's hair. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals retouching throughout the painting. This consists of scattered areas, the largest of which measures no bigger than 2 by 2 cm. in the girl's forehead, beside her eyes, chest, in the background and along the lower margin; and three, thin horizontal lines of retouching, one which runs the width of the canvas just through the girl's hairline, possibly from a fold, and two others which run along the lower margin. In overall fair condition.
