Catalogue Note

A native of Naples, Palumbo received his first artistic training under Giovanni Battista Caracciolo (1578–1635) and later under Artemisia Gentileschi (1593–1656), during her sojourn in that city. We are grateful to Prof. Nicola Spinosa for identifying this as a work by Palumbo, on the basis of photographs.
