The canvas is lined, the paint surface is very dirty and the varnish very discoloured. There are two spots of paint loss, one in the trees, upper right, and the other in St Anne’s proper right arm (both visible in the catalogue illustration). There are discoloured retouchings and associated small spots of paint loss along all four edges. Discoloured retouchings are also visible in the sky upper centre, in St Anne’s dress, centre right and lower right, and in Christ’s legs. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms these, and reveals a fairly extensive campaign of older restoration scattered throughout. In overall moderate condition. Offered in a plain gold painted frame. "In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above.
