Condition

Both panels are uncradled, made up of two planks, and are flat and stable. Both paint surfaces are slightly dirty and both varnishes discoloured. There are old, discoloured retouchings visible along the horizontal panel joins in both, as well as scattered throughout the sky. In the former there are three small spots of restoration to old knocks in the panel in the sky centre right; in the latter there is a small spot of surface accretion lower centre to the left of the base of the trunk. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms all these retouchings, and reveals a restored, diagonal surface scratch in the sky of the latter, upper centre to the left of the top of the tree, approx. 6 cm long. Both in overall good condition, and offered in plain wooden frames in very good condition.
