Condition

The bevelled panel is uncradled and made of a single plank; it is flat and the paint surface is stable. The varnish appears clear and even. A distinctive craquelure has developed in patches, mostly throughout the dark tones on the table cloth. There is a slight degree of wear throughout some of the details, and the cloth itself. There are no major damages visible to the naked eye. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a thick and old varnish that fluoresces opaque. There are 5 small cleaning patches; one of them a square in the foreground over the lower part of the lemon and the beginnings of its peel, which also has some restoration to it throughout the lower part of the lemon, and a further small patch at the rim of the upturned roemer at the left measuring 2 cm. squared. It would seem likely there are some further restorations that are not visible due to the thick varnish. In overall fair condition. Offered in a carved and painted wood frame in good condition.
