Condition

The canvas is lined, the paint surface is slightly dirty and the varnish slightly discoloured. Inspection under ultraviolet light is impeded by the varnish which fluoresces opaquely, and it is virtually impossible to discern any form of intervention. Possible areas of retouching include however some small areas in the foreground lower left and in the landscape centre left, as well as in the foliage upper left. There may also be some strengthening in the shadowy area of the pigeon's head and in the contours of the whistle. In overall good condition. Offered in a plaster and gilt wood frame with some losses.
