The canvas is lined, the paint surface is relatively clean, and the varnish is clear and even. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals spot retouchings scattered throughout the sky, as well as some larger areas, upper centre, the largest of which measures 4 by 2 cm. There are otherwise only a handful of tiny retouchings, in the rear of the horse and the red trousers of the boy, lower centre. The work is in overall good condition. Offered in a carved and moulded gilt wood frame in good condition.
