Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is good, with some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. The metal is thin, and there are a few original lacunae and open fissures consistent with casting, including to the neck, the proper right elbow, the proper left elbow, the proper left ankle, and to the skirt of the armour. There is some tarnishing in areas, notably to the proper left elbow. There are also a few spots of greening, and there is rubbing to the gilding, including at the chest, where a copper colour appears underneath. The bronze is detached from the marble base. The marble base is in good condition with a few chips and minor abrasions. There is some residue at the top where the bronze would have been attached.
