Condition

Not viewed out of the frame. The canvas has an old wax lining and the original canvas is visible at the edges on the reverse. Work is covered in thick discolored varnish with surface dirt. Two vertical stretcher bar marks at center. Under UV: heavy varnish fluoresces green unevenly. There is a 6 in. wide horizontal area of inpainting on the far left figure from her shoulder to her backside and a very small area of inpainting to the right figure's proper left forearm. Traditional decorative nineteenth century-style frame.
