Condition

Hinged at the four corners to an old backing sheet, probably from an album. Overall in good condition . Few grey light stains to the right and at the top.

Catalogue Note

This handsome drawing depicting the head of a cherub belongs to the large group of 93 head studies that were bound together with the Holy Family series (see also lot 39).  Giovanni Battista Tiepolo has, with very simple lines and touches of wash, created a tender and expressive image.
