Description

  • Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, called Il Guercino
  • Two men in conversation
  • Pen and brown ink and wash, retouched by a later hand
  • 241 by 162 mm; 9½ by 6 3/8  in

Condition

Hinge mounted to a modern mount. The sheet appears to have been laid down on a vellum(?) backing. There is scattered foxing throughout and touches of a later purple wash to the man's face on the right. There are abrasions throughout the sheet and a small hole to the eye of the right hand figure. The pen and ink has sunk in places, however the image remains reasonably strong. Sold unframed.
