Condition

Laid down. Overall in good condition. Some light brown staining in the upper right corner, barely visible. Rd and black chalk remain strong and sheet in reasonably good condition. Sold unframed.

Catalogue Note

Manglard was born in Lyon and studied with the Dutch artist, Adriaen van der Cabel.  The latter part of his life was spent in Rome where his pupils included Claude-Joseph Vernet.  For another similar landscape in red chalk see S. Maddalo, Adrien Manglard, Rome 1982, no. 66.
