Catalogue Note

Born in 1705 in Civitavecchia, Andrea Casali was a pupil of Sebastiano Conca (1680-1764).  This beautiful study of a young girl, executed in pastel on blue paper, is sensitively drawn and stylistically demonstrates the strong influence of his master. The present drawing is unique within Casali’s oeuvre as no other works in this medium appear to have survived.
