Condition

Laid down. Overall in fairly reasonable condition. Light brown staining in the centre of the sheet and at the left margin. A few tiny nicks/tears at the upper and lower margins of the sheet. Medium remains strong and vibrant.

Catalogue Note

Very little is known about Pietro de Angelis, he is recorded as having worked on mythological ceiling frescoes in the 18th century. The artist must have worked in the circle of the Venetian painter Pietro Antonio Novelli (1729-1804) ), since his style is similar to Novelli's decorative works (see lots 154 and 155).
