Condition
Window mounted and laid down on thin japan paper. Overall in good condition. A small repaired hole at the lower right margin. Some losses around the edges of the sheet. Medium strong and vibrant.

This handsome study, executed in chalk and wash, resembles, especially in facial type, other works by Giuseppe Cades. It is possibly preparatory for a figure in an Adoration of the Shepherds, but, may also have been intended as a finished head study.
