Condition

The work has survived in good condition. The medium has remained strong and fresh. There is some minor surface dirt to the paper and in a soft crease which runs diagonally near the lower left hand corner. This can only be seen on close inspection.

Catalogue Note

This watercolour once belonged to the eminent surgeon Harry Littlewood. He assembled a fine collection of watercolours and was to bequeath works by John Sell Cotman to Norwich Castle Museum. He also owned the Thomas Girtin watercolour, which appears as lot 192 in the present sale.
