Condition

Overall measurements: 470cm across the top, 468cm across the bottom, 260cm along the left side, 262cm along the right side The tapestry is in restored condition. The left and right borders are associated, as visible from the photograph, and have later repairs within them. There are some repairs and reweaving in areas, especially along the lower edge, for example level with and between all the shoes along the lower edge. See for example the bottom left corner, spots of different colour within the green ground. There is some stabilisation to the light highlight areas, for example within the folds of the clothing, and edges of the hair of female equestrian figure, and highlight to edge of branches of plant on the left, and highlight in green grass below in left corner, to the highlights of leaves of central foreground flowering plant and to trunk of tree far right, and to areas of light highlights generally across the central plane, ie to clothing, highlights of horses and deer. Tapestry is lined. It would benefit from having new Velcro attached across the top edge for hanging purposes in the future. Tapestry is in stable restored condition. It is very decorative and of a good size as wider than it is high, and is of a balanced composition and colour range.
