Description

  • 25.5 cm, 10 in.
each with deep rounded sides rising from a short spreading foot, brightly enamelled around the exterior with gilt outlined peony and chrysanthemum blossoms, with a border of panelled water creatures at the rim, the interior with butterflies and further floral stems

Condition

There is a small chip to the inner rim of one bowl, a glaze line to the exterior (approx. 3 cm) and a firing line to its base. The other with some small chips to the rim, and a glaze line to the exterior (approx. 4.5 cm). Both bowls with frits to the rim, minor chips to the foot rim, and scratches to the glaze surface particularly at the interior. There are slight rubbing of gilding and enamel. Both with kiln imperfections including burst bubbles, iron spots, glaze inconsistencies in various areas.
