Condition

The walrus tusk in overall good condition. The base of the hollow tusk is jagged as visible from the photograph. The end with a drilled hole and some chips, which are possibly contemporary to the decoration. The curved underside has been shaved for display purposes. The cow horn is in reasonable conserved condition. There is a repaired break to the end, and a repaired split also at the end but vertically along the horn to the underside. There is a small split tot he hollow base which would benefit from attention and evidence that the base had a metal molding originally. There is some discrepancy to the varnished surface. Both the tusk and horn have marks and scratches consistent with age. Both are highly decorative and ornate.
