Thence by descent;
Sotheby’s London, Trafalgar: Nelson and the Napoleonic Wars, 5 October 2005, lot 25; where acquired by the present owner.

Exhibited

Formerly on loan to the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich

Condition

The warming stands are missing inner burners. Two of the wooden handles are split, one handle fits a little loosely. Numbered 3 and 6 respectively. The entrée dishes and covers are numbered 3 and 4. One handle is replaced and is the incorrect fit for the cover and therefore is completely loose. Both covers are bruised and mis-shapen, one particularly so, and do not sit well to the bases. In general the plating is intact, more so than the warming stands, the dishes and covers with more copper showing through, especially to the high points and the engraved crests.
