Condition

The relief appears sound. There are a small number of very minor nicks to the corners and extreme edges of both layers of the relief, particularly at the lower right corner, that appear to be historic or inherent. There is an extremely minor vertical tear to the upper layer of the relief at the upper left corner that appears to be historic and painted with the Artist's materials. There are pinholes at all four corners of the upper layer of the relief and a pinhead at the upper left corner. There is light surface dust and a few instances of small specks of detritus in places. This excepting, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The relief is adhered to a new backboard and held in a stained wooden box frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
