Condition

The canvas appears to be original. There are faint stretcher bar marks at the edges and running horizontally below centre. There are two or three faint pushes to the canvas along the upper edge and one to the centre of the lower edge. There is some cracking to the paint surface towards the upper edge, with further more minor instances elsewhere. There are scattered flecks of loss to the extreme edges and corners of the painting with a few additional scattered flecks of loss to the grey pigment near the centre of the left edge. There is some bloom to the black pigment and surface matter visible to the blue and green pigments. There is a small crescent-shaped area just below the centre of the right edge that appears to be historic retouching. There are a number of faint scuffs to the lower edge with additional scattered scuffs in places and faint handling marks to the upper edge. There is some light surface dirt and studio matter throughout. The work has not been inspected under ultra violet light. The work is unframed.
