Provenance

Leicester Galleries, London, where acquired by the family of the present owner, 16th February 1940

Condition

The canvas is original. Upon extremely close inspection it is possible to see some minor craquelure in the orange pigment in the lower right corner. There is a small possible area of paint loss to the thick impasto of the white flower. There is a vertical line of surface dirt in the upper right corner, with some minor spots of dirt and studio detritus elsewhere. With the exception of the above the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of retouching or fluorescence. The work is held behind glass in an ornate, carved wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any further questions regarding the present lot.
