The canvas is original and undulates slightly. There appears to be a small number of areas of discoloured paint along the lower edge, possibly old retouchings. There is some rubbing to the edges, particularly in the upper right corner and lower left. There are a few very light scuffs along the lower edge. There is some light surface dirt throughout, particularly to the lower edge. Subject to the above the work appears to be in good overall condition. Inspection under ultra violet light confirms the existence of retouching towards the lower edge. There also appears to be some minor retouching to the extreme edges, with one possible further instance of retouching at the upper left corner. There also appear to be some other isolated areas of fluorescence probably in keeping with the artist's working methods. The work is held within a simple painted wooden frame.
