The canvas appears to be lined, and it presents a decorative image beneath an old and dirtied varnish. The work has not been recently restored. There are some areas of inconsistency to the surface, the craquelure is visible throughout, and the blue details seem to have blanched or discolored slightly with age. There are a few small spots of loss, concentrated at the edges, for example in the in the upper left corner, the upper sky, the lower two corners corners, and to the left of the lower edge. Inspection under UV reveals a thick varnish and small scattered spots of retouching here and there, many of which are visible to the naked eye, with a more prominent area in the center of the upper sky. Offered in a decoratively carved giltwood frame with a few nicks and losses.
