The canvas appears to be unlined or very thinly relined. The paint surface has been very well preserved and there is lovely retention of detail in the fruit, and strong coloration. The darks of the upper background are slightly thin and there are some small discolored retouchings at the lower left and lower right corners, but these are not distracting. Examination under UV light does not reveal much through the varnish. There is possibly an area of retouching on the lemon at upper right, but it is hard to tell. This painting can be hung as is and presents a very decorative image. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame with minor nicks.

This small and excellently rendered still life by Pietro Paolo Bonzi is bathed in a lovely, warm light that provides dimension to the various fruits and flowers set atop a stone surface, including jasmine and a ripe pomegranate bursting with seeds.
