Condition

The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This work is made from two pieces of stone joined vertically through the center of the tower. The stone is unbroken, although there are cracks in the upper right and upper left. The paint layer has remained stable. All of the figures and animals seem to be in beautiful condition. The retouches to the vertical join in the center could be improved, and the work could probably be cleaned. However, it certainly looks very presentable as is and could be hung in its current state.
